Overview
A multi-storey building frame of reinforced-concrete columns and slabs, each floor propped while the concrete gains strength.
The structural frame of a multi-storey building: reinforced-concrete columns carrying flat slabs, built floor by floor.
Steel props stay under each new slab until the concrete has gained enough strength to carry its own weight and the floors above. Removing props too early is one of the most common causes of slab failure, so the striking time is planned and checked on site.
