A house built the way most homes in Douala are: cement-block walls between reinforced-concrete columns and beams.
The walls are up to beam level. The beam and slab formwork is propped, and steel starter bars stand out of the columns, ready for the next stage. Blocks, sand and gravel are stocked on site so the work keeps moving.
